Out of School Biology Instruction in Podpořany Region

This diploma thesis deals with biological excursion of teaching in Podbořany region. This region is able to provide variety of places that are attractive in terms of science education. Excursion routes here can be suitable for pupils of primary and secondary schools and focused on different directions of biology. Particularly, it concerns botany, geology, zoology and ecology. The thesis has a theoretical part, the aim of which is to characterize the natural science excursion as a form of teaching and to describe the basic characteristics of natural science excursions. The practical part deals with the list of regional localities in terms of organizing natural science excursions, processing of proposals for excursions to selected locations with outputs in the form of worksheets and verification of these proposals for excursions in practice. Except of the selected locations characteristics the ideas also contain materials for teachers, which is useful when planning excursions for teachers from nearby schools. Part of the thesis is also a double questionnaire survey. The first focuses on the attitude of teachers in the region to excursion teaching. Causes of vegetation heterogeneity of oak forests in Podbořansko region

Thermophilous oak forests are a habitat characterized by a large diversity of vascular plants. In the case of open canopy woodlands, the diversity of the herb undergrowth is enhanced by the significant heterogeneity of the environment. It can be demonstrated for example at the Dětaň Chlum in neighborhood of the Doupovské hory Mts. However, it has not yet been fully known which natural characteristic have the most significant influence on the formation of such a diverse vegetation. One of the possible causes can be found in historical management. Therefore, this work provides some insight into the history of forest management in the Podbořany region based on archival materials such as Historical Forest Survey, Management Plans or Archive Maps. The obtained information is to a large extent surprising. It has been shown that coniferous stands with a long time of timber extraction have dominated the Dětaň chlum in the past. However, this contradicts the assumption that it is an ancient oak coppice, as suggested by the current appearance of vegetation with a high incidence of polycormones in the local nature reserve. Socio - Economic Development of the Podbořany Region

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá socioekonomickým vývojem Podbořanska. Charakterizuje tento mikroregion z hlediska jeho historického, demografického, ekonomického a sociálního vývoje. Zkoumá přírodní a kulturní potenciál mikroregionu, dále jeho sídelní strukturu, obyvatelstvo, místní ekonomiku a trh práce, občanskou a dopravní infrastrukturu. V praktické části jsou zpracovány výsledky sociologického šetření názorů místních obyvatel, významných firem a podnikatelů a také představitelů obcí, nebo-li starostů na Podbořansko. Data byla získána vlastním průzkumem v terénu pomocí dotazníků a řízených pohovorů s respondenty. Na základě všech těchto poznatků jsou v práci pojmenovány hlavní problémy a bariéry rozvoje území. V závěru práce jsou definovány příležitosti a potenciál území pro jeho budoucí rozvoj.
